7. What is your dream job, and why?

I love working with children and being a teacher, however, I would love to have the option of working part-time.

I love being something stable in my student's lives.  I love knowing that when my middle school students have a bad day they come in and eat lunch with me to talk.  I love when my elementary students give me hugs when I worked really hard on a lesson and they really got it.

I have learned so much about children and the type of parent I want to be and the kind I do not want to be.  I have been able to discuss with my husband how we can prepare our children for different situations because I am more aware of them.  I know that anything I learn at school or by being in school will benefit our family.

Teaching is the hardest thing I have done.  I have struggled this year, but I have progressed so much in a trial by fire situation.  I spent the majority of college being in complete denial about wanting to be a teacher thinking it wouldn't make an impact on the world.

A few weeks ago, one of my students said: "I began reading my scriptures since I know how to read now."  I realized what I do is really important.

Wow. It sounds like you are leaving such an impact! After what you shared about your past, I know this must mean a lot to you, and it definitely means a lot to them. I was an awkward middle-high school student and didn't get too close to most people in my grade, but I LOVED the teachers who were always open to talk.

It is great when you have a job where you feel like you make a difference in someone's life. Some days I really struggle with my job. I'm a RN in Labor and Delivery. It is emotionally, mentally and physically exhausting. But then I will get a patient and know that I helped them through something so painful, like the loss of a baby, and I know that no matter how I struggle God has a plan and perhaps compassion is my talent that he has blessed me with. Patience must be yours :)

If I could do something else? I would absolutely love to be a photographer! For now it is just a hobby that I am trying to learn and improve at!
